Level: Foundations II

Course Details
Students will study and observe the distinctive art movements and artistic traditions that influenced the techniques of the masters. Through careful observation and guided study, students will gain an understanding of how artists used color, composition, value, and technique to communicate their ideas. Students will then apply these principles to create their own original compositions.
This creative exploration course uses soft pastels as its primary medium, providing students with hands-on instruction in fundamental pastel techniques while encouraging thoughtful observation, craftsmanship, and individual artistic expression.

Grades: 3rd-12th- (Level: Foundations II- students who have some experience and knowledge of art mediums are recommended)​
Meetings: Once per month- 90 min.
Location: Online format

Online Painting Classes

​Join us for an online art experience where students of all levels learn classical and contemporary techniques, art history, and artist biographies from influential artists! Our art classes are gentle, supportive, and encouraging. We want students to experience the joy of creating art while developing self-confidence.

Students should have most of their artwork completed during class time. If additional support is needed, please have your student email their instructor for feedback and guidance! Students will receive an Art Movement and Artist worksheet to complete at home if desired.
Students will be taught how to see as artists and develop skills of artistic observation and creative interpretation in each class setting. Courses will be guided with STEP-BY-STEP instructions on how to use classical techniques to practice the unique strategies used by the artist we are learning about in class. Students will utilize their gained knowledge, creative interpretation, and artistic judgment to work on their own artworks.

Teachers work with students individually according to their level and ability, and an online platform is a great way to work with students in the comfort of our own homes/studios!
